Upper Dolpo Trek

This trek runs through one of Nepal's most remote and untouched regions, close to the Tibetan border. During this off-the-beaten-path trek you can get to know Tibetan Buddhist culture, which is quite different from traditional culture in other parts of Nepal.

Inclusions: 

  • Accommodation: 14 nights in traditional Nepalese "teahouses" during the trek and 3 nights in a hotel in Kathmandu of minimum 3 stars rating.

  • Foodwise: 3 meals a day (including 3 hot drinks) during the trek, while in Kathmandu bed & breakfast

  • Licensed trekking guide that provides you safety, flexibility and a good time during the trek.

  • Airport transfer service upon arrival and departure in Kathmandu.

Itinerary:

**Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu**  
Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival, our team will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu.

**Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu**  
Explore the vibrant city of Kathmandu at your leisure, taking in its rich cultural heritage and bustling streets.

**Day 03: Fly to Nepalgunj**  
Take a short flight to Nepalgunj, located in the western part of Nepal.

**Day 04: Fly to Juphal (2,475m/8,120ft) & Trek to Dunai (2,140m/7,020ft)**  
Fly to Juphal and start your trek with a journey to Dunai, the administrative center of the Dolpo region.

**Day 05: Trek to Tarakot (2,537m/8,323ft)**  
Trek through picturesque landscapes along the banks of the Bheri River, reaching the ancient fortress town of Tarakot.

**Day 06: Trek to Laini Odar (3,370m/11,056ft)**  
Ascend through gorges and narrow valleys, following the Tarap Chu River to Laini Odar.

**Day 07: Trek to Nawarpani (3,475m/11,400ft)**  
Continue your trek along the Tarap Chu River, passing through lush forests and meadows to reach Nawarpani.

**Day 08: Trek to Dho Tarap (4,090m/13,419ft)**  
Trek through the high-altitude desert landscape to the culturally rich village of Dho Tarap.

**Day 09: Acclimatization Day at Dho Tarap**  
Spend the day acclimatizing and exploring the traditional Buddhist village of Dho Tarap.

**Day 10: Trek to Numa La Base Camp (4,440m/14,564ft)**  
Ascend towards the Numa La Base Camp, enjoying stunning views of the surrounding peaks.

**Day 11: Cross Numa La Pass (5,318m/17,451ft) & Trek to Danighar (4,510m/14,797ft)**  
Cross the challenging Numa La Pass and descend to the remote village of Danighar.

**Day 12: Cross Baga La Pass (5,190m/17,028ft) & Trek to Yak Kharka (3,820m/12,533ft)**  
Cross the Baga La Pass and descend to Yak Kharka, a picturesque pastureland.

**Day 13: Trek to Phoksundo Lake (3,611m/11,849ft)**  
Trek to the stunning Phoksundo Lake, with its turquoise waters and surrounding snow-capped peaks.

**Day 14: Rest Day at Phoksundo Lake**  
Enjoy a rest day at Phoksundo Lake, exploring the area and visiting the nearby village of Ringmo.

**Day 15: Trek to Shyanta (2,520m/8,267ft)**  
Begin your descent from Phoksundo Lake, trekking through beautiful landscapes to Shyanta.

**Day 16: Trek to Juphal (2,475m/8,120ft)**  
Continue your trek to Juphal, where you will conclude your trekking adventure.

**Day 17: Fly to Nepalgunj & Kathmandu**  
Take a flight from Juphal to Nepalgunj and then back to Kathmandu.

**Day 18: Departure**  
After breakfast, we’ll transfer you to the airport for your departure, bidding you farewell until your next adventure in Nepal.
